Historic Site: Tessamatuck
Tessamatuck was a Piscataway village that existed at the Tent Landing site in
Ft. Washington, MD. Meaning 'a place free of briars', Tessamatuck was located
on a rolling grassy plain on the Potomac River that would later be the site
of Revolutionary War skirmishes and a farm.
Tessamatuck was recently saved from being developed into an upscale housing community. The land has now been set aside as a park which the Piscataway hope to in our seasonal celebrations and other cultural events.
