Maryland Commission on Indian Affairs
The Maryland Commission on Indian Affairs is Maryland's official statewide agency for Native Americans, charged with initiating and supporting activities that affect Native Americans in Maryland and further the understanding of Native American history and culture.

Of immediate importance to our people is the fact that the Commission is intimately involved in the state recognition process for the Piscataway and for other Maryland tribes. It is the Commission that officially recommends or rejects petitions for recognition to the Governor's office, and serves as an advisory body for legislation and executive orders pertaining to Indian affairs in the state.

The Commission currently has two Piscataway Conoy members - Auriel Fenwick and Thomas Windsor II, who serve as the Chair and Vice Chair of the Commission, respectively.
